Mel Gussow
MEL GUSSOW was the author of eight books including those about Beckett, Pinter, Albee, and Stoppard and of Theatre on the Edge: New Visions, New Voices. A longtime drama critic, he wrote more than 4,000 reviews and articles for The New York Times over 35 years. He was a winner of a Guggenheim Fellowship and the George Jean Nathan Award for dramatic criticism. He earned a degree in American literature and received a master's degree from the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism in 1956. Born December 19, 1933, died April 29, 2005.
