Heidi Landesman-Ettinger
HEIDI LANDESMAN-ETTINGER The innovative scenic (and sometime costume) designer studied at Occidental College and Yale and is known for her poetic depictions of locale that defy realism but still evoke a sense of place vividly. After working in regional theatre, Landesman was first noticed in New York for her landscaped setting for A Midsummer Night's Dream (1982) in Central Park. Her bold design for Painting Churches (1983) Off Broadway led to her award-winning sets for Big River (1985) in which she depicted the Mississippi River through a series of gleaming wooden planks. Her other Broadway success was the dollhouse-like settings for The Secret Garden (1991). Landesman's other notable designs include The Red Shoes (1993), Moon Over Buffalo (1995), Smokey Joe's Cafe (1995), The Triumph of Love (1997), The Sound of Music (1998), and Tom Sawyer (2001).

Bio as of June, 2009.
