Originally from Fairfax, VA, DAMIEN BASSMAN wrote and played the African/classical-percussion book at The Color Purple, and wrote/played the drum books for High Fidelity, Mario Cantone's Laugh Whore, and The Great American Trailer Park Musical. He's also subbed on numerous Broadway and off-Broadway shows (Aida, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Nine, Legally Blonde, Never Gonna Dance, Fiddler On The Roof, Caroline Or Change, The Wedding Singer, Baby, Bat Boy, Radiant Baby). He is a featured member of Absolute Ensemble (www.absoluteensemble.com), through which he has collaborated with artists like Paquito Di Rivera, Peter Erskine, Mike Keneally, Marcel Khalife, Gregor Bregovich, and Joe Zawinul, and has soloed with orchestras through Europe and America. He is a faculty member at Marymount Manhattan College and accompanies dance throughout NYC. Damien plays drums for Adam Pascal, Jason Danieley, Kevin Cahoon and Ghetto Cowboy, Dan Lipton + Band, Michael Longoria, and The Tom Kitt Band. Damien is currently the percussionist in Barry Manilow's band. He proudly plays Toca Percussion and Ziljian cymbals.
